The chances of reproduction vary from 25% to 35% for Moroccan infertile couples, said on Saturday Hassan Boudrar, a gynecologist and specialist in reproductive medicine.
Speaking at the 2nd international symposium on infertility of couples in Morocco, Boudrar said that this percentage could rise to 10% for women over the age of 42, adding that the chances of success of treatment techniques are intimately linked to the age of the woman.
According to him, the infertility of couples is mainly due to hormonal imbalance in the lining of the uterus, the problems that can appear in the fallopian canal, ovarian cysts and uterine abnormalities.
Boudrar added that infertility also increases with advancing female age.
As for men, the specialist said that the reasons behind infertility remain less clear, noting that half of infertile men manage to easily treat this problem.
This international event brought together leading experts in reproductive medicine, including Samir Hamamah, Dominique Deziegler, Peter Humaidan and Michael Grimberg.
