A rocket launched by North Korea was an intercontinental ballistic missile that flew about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) before splashing down in the Sea of Japan, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
According to an initial assessment, the missile was launched from Sain Ni in North Korea and flew within Japan's Economic Exclusion Zone (EEZ).
In a statement, the Pentagon said the missile did not pose a threat to North America, any US territories or any ally nations.
