The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand)

The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand) has opened its first overseas office in Yangon, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.
Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong presided over the opening ceremony on Friday.
In his opening speech, Apisak said that investors throughout the world are keen to invest in Myanmar, which is rich in natural resources, while the country's economy is growing and its government has a policy to liberalise more foreign trade and investment.
He urged EXIM Thailand to also act as economic diplomat between Thailand and Myanmar by offering advises on general economy and facilitate business matching.
Apisak was confident that the opening of EXIM Thailand office overseas would further advance economic partnership, which would lead to sustainable wealth for the people of both countries.
Meanwhile, EXIM Thailand president Pisit Serewiwattana said that his bank planned to open offices in Laos and Cambodia next year and subsequently in Vietnam.
EXIM Thailand has offered loans to businessmen investing in Myanmar more than 26 billion baht since it started operation in 1994, said Pisit.
The bank is now considering to offer loans to more than 18 projects with combined investment of 700 billion baht, Mr Pisit added.
