On behalf of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan

On behalf of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE delegation participated last week in the third MED - Mediterranean Dialogue, which was concluded in Rome last Thursday, to discuss ways of joint cooperation to achieve stability in crisis areas.

The UAE's delegation was headed by Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Minister for Human Rights and International Law, and included Saqr Nasser Al Raisi, UAE Ambassador to Italy.

Since its launch in December 2015, the Forum has sought to lay the groundwork for a new agenda for the Mediterranean to overcome its problems and crises and to move towards a new regional order based on cooperation and shared prosperity.

During the forum, Al Jarman also met with the British delegation headed by Alistair Burt, UK Minister of State for International Development and for the Middle East, as well as with the Italian Commissioner-General for the Expo Dubai 2020.

The MED – Mediterranean Dialogues are an annual high-level initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Rome-based Italian Institute for International Political Studies, ISPI. They seek to draft a "positive agenda" for the Mediterranean by stimulating debate and promoting new ideas, rethinking traditional approaches and addressing shared challenges at both the regional and the international level
