Sanaa - Arab Today
As many as ten Houthis were killed and wounded on Thursday when members of the popular resistance in Azzal region targeted a Houthi military patrol in Al Haymah Al Kharijiyah district, western Sanaa.
The attack took place on the road linking Al Hudaydah governorate to Sanaa, the resistance said in a statement on its Facebook page.
The popular resistance groups in Azzal region, one of the six Yemeni regions, are steeping up attacks against Houthi fighters there.
Taking advantage of security vacuum in Yemen following the unrest that forced Ali Abdullah Saleh out of power in 2012, the Houthis began extending control over many swaths of Yemeni territories until they swept into the presidential palace in 2015, dissolved the parliament and put a Revolutionary Committee led by Mohammed Ali al-Houthi in charge of the country.
A popular resistance, backed by Saudi Arabia-led Arab coalition, broke out to liberate the country from Houthi control.
