Twenty-four civilians, including women and children, and 10 soldiers have been wounded after a suicide bombing rocket the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The attackers were targeting a military centre in the al-Sukkar region, north of Mosul. A security source from the Nineveh Province told Arab Today: \"10 soldiers and 24 civilians were injured. Five residential properties in the surrounding area were damaged. The source, speaking upon the condition of anonymity, added: \"Ambulances transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment, and security forces cordoned off the area.\" In separate attacks in Nineveh on Saturday, three soldiers were wounded in a bomb blast in southern Mosul, while 11 soldiers suffered injuries in another explosion nearby. A policeman sustained injuries after militants attacked his patrol in al-Qayyarah south of Mosul. Security force detained two gunmen as they passed a checkpoint south of Mosul. Earlier on Saturday, the son of an Iraqi politician was shot dead in central Mosul.
