Majed Al-Majed, leader of Abdullah Azzam Brigades, who was recently arrested by the Lebanese authorities died due to "health deterioration," the official National News Agency said on Saturday.
He passed away "a short while ago due to deterioration of his health," the NNA said, alluding the violent extremist who had been held by the Lebanese Army since he was nabbed several days ago.
Minister of Justice Shekib Qartbawi, earlier, told An-Nahar newspaper that Al-Majed would be prosecuted by the Lebanese judiciary.
Iran had declared that it would dispatch a delegation of interrogators to Beirut to participate in questioning the detained Saudi for suspected complicity in the recent bombing that targeted the Iranian embassy in Lebanon.
