Algiers - Arab Today
Algerian independent and financial consultant Kamal Benkoussa said Friday that he is withdrawing from the presidential race slated for April 17.
Benkoussa, 41, made the remarks after incumbent President Abdelaziz Bouteflika decided to run for a fourth five-year term.
Bouteflika, 76, undermined Algerian dignity by denying the people the right to choose their president, Benkoussa said, adding that such step will drive the country to a political deadlock.
