Beirut - Georges Chahine
Security reports obtained by ArabsToday on Saturday, revealed that conflict has broken out between the allies of Islamist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al Asir, the imam of Sidon's Bilal bin Rabah Mosque, the Free Resistance Brigades in Abra, Lebanon.
The reports confirmed that weapons were used, wounding one member.
Following the clashes, al Asir called for the allies to gather in front of Sidon's Bilal bin Rabah Mosque, which put the army on high alert in anticipation of further conflict.
The security sources stated that the region is experiencing rising tension since Al Asir participated in the prevention of a Brigade fighter killed in Al Qusayr, Syria from being buried at a Sunni cemetery. Hezbollah was forced to conduct the funeral and bury the deceased in a Shiite cemetery.
