The Egyptian Armed Forces launched at dawn Monday an air raid on camps of Daesh militant group in Libya in implementation of the decisions of the National Defense Council following the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians at the hands of Daesh terrorists.
"In implementation of the decisions of the National Defense Council and in line with Egypt's right to defend the security and the stability of its great people and avenge the criminal acts carried out by terrorists both inside and outside the country, the Army launched at dawn of Monday an air raid against the camps, training positions and arms and ammunition warehouses of Daesh militant group in Libya," the Armed Forces said in a statement.
"The strike successfully hit its targets and our Air Forces returned home safely," the statement said.
"We reiterate that avenging Egyptian blood and taking retribution from killers and criminals is a duty that should be carried out right away and all should know that Egyptians have a shield that protects the security of their homeland and a sword that amputates terrorism and extremism".
The army offered condolences to the families of the 21 Egyptian Copts who were beheaded by Daesh on Sunday.
