Fatah Central Committee member Saeb Erekat has called on Hamas to begin implementing terms from the inter-factional Doha Agreement to establish a new Palestinian government. Erekat, speaking to Voice of Palestine radio station, expressed his hope that Palestinian national reconciliation would begin immediately – with the formation of a government of independents and technocrats led by current Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. “A new government would become the prelude to holding elections within the next 90 days,” the Fatah official and chief Palestinian negotiator said.
