A high-ranking official in al-Qaeda’s Islamic State in Iraq (ISI) organization has been killed in the northern city of Mosul, according to Nineveh provincial police. Armed forces raided the home of an unnamed ISI governor in Mosul, 405 kilometres north of Baghdad on Wednesday night. “The governor escaped from the house but they [armed forces] chased him and managed to kill him a few metres from the house,” a statement said on Thursday. The body of the unknown official has been transferred to a forensic department in the city.
