Police troops have been heavily deployed on the Suez-South Sinai road as the Egyptian Economic Development Conference (EEDC) resumes in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
Security measures have been tightened at the Ahmed Hamdy tunnel, said Suez police chief Major General Tareq el Gazar on Saturday.
He said police are fully coordinating with the army in Suez to conduct security operations.
All vehicles crossing the Ahmed Hamdy tunnel, which connects Suez and Sinai, are being searched, Gazar added.
