The Iraqi forces at dawn Monday foiled an attack by Daesh militant group near Samaraa, Salahuddine governorate, in northern Iraq.
Meanwhile, the Kurdish Peshmerga troops along with Kirkuk police backed by airstrikes of the coalition forces attacked Daesh militants in southern Kirkuk positions.
Local sources said Samaraa operation claimed the lives of 12 Daesh elements while five of their vehicles being destroyed.
Peshmerga troops regained control over two towns in southern Kirkuk and are proceeding to hunt down Daesh elements in other neighboring areas.
A security team in Diali uncovered a terrorist cell affiliated to Daesh in eastern Ba'aqouba.
