Italian FM Paolo Gentiloni

Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said Monday Libya will be getting closer to the scenario of Somalia if the conflicting parties did not reach a political agreement swiftly.

In statements here, the Italian foreign minister said the international community does not only intend to reach stability in the country but also to confront terror.

The timing is very important, he said, pointing out that the presence of Daesh in Sirte is very alarming.

Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Arabi called for exerting Arab and international efforts to offer necessary support to the interim Libyan government to stop the heinous massacres committed by Daesh against civilians in Sirte.
