Hundreds of supporters of the Islamic current in Mauritania rallied in Nouakchott to express their support for excluded Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi and former ruling regime Muslim Brotherhood. The demonstrators raised the Mauritanian and Egyptian flags, rebuking what they described as \"a military coup against the legitimacy.\" They called on Egypt’s army to retreat from its decision. Chairperson of the National Unionist Party for Reform and Development Mohamed Gamal Mansour, said the protests were organised to express supoort for the Muslim Brotherhood, and to confront the military coup \"committed against the will of Egyptian people.\" Participants in the demonstration have pledged to \"overthrow\" the current Mauritanian regime. They called have called on Islamists to plan mass rallies on July 7 in protest against the Mauritanian regime to confront military rule in Mauritania.
