Nepalese Troops currently serving with a peacekeeping mission in Southern Lebanon are to be moved to Golan in Syria, a UNIFIL spokesperson has announced. In a press statement released on Wednesday, Antoinette Midday said the Nepalese government had agreed to contribute soldiers to the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force ??(UNDOF) in Golan. She said: “Due to the urgency of this requirement, the Government of Nepal has decided to ?withdraw one company from the Nepalese contingent of UNIFIL in order to deploy it to UNDOF. ?The Government of Nepal has committed to replace the Company in UNIFIL during the next ?rotation of their troops in early September.”? The statement added that the temporary shortage in UNIFIL troops will be met by reserve units until September, when Nepal will provide a permanent replacement.
