Saudi-led coalition jets

The Saudi-led coalition aircrafts pounded on Tuesday Al Anad air base in Lahij governorate in southern Yemen.

The airstrikes came after Houthi fighters and army units loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh shelled positions of popular resistance committees in Al Anad air base.

Flames and and sounds of explosions are still continued at the base, according to local sources, which termed the shelling of the airbase as "the strongest" of its kind since the start of the Arab coalition air raids against Houthis and Saleh militants.

Meanwhile, some members of popular resistance and Yemen's armed forces bombarded the airbase with Katyusha rockets and rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) in conjunction with the Saudi-led coalition air raids, according to sources with popular resistance committees.

The sources said special units from the Yemeni army are getting ready to storm the airbase.
