Istanbul - Arab Today
The opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC) has decided to take part in Geneva II conference, following the United Nations' withdrawal of its invitation to Iran to attend the conference.
The SNC welcomed, in a statement, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon's decision to withdraw the invitation to Iran as Tehran did not meet the participation's conditions.
In doing so, Syria's main opposition group had come back from a decision to suspend participation in the talks on the condition of Iran's acceptance of the Geneva I communique.
The Geneva II conference will aim to build on the former round of talks, which call to achieve a political transition in Syria, by forming a transitional ruling authority with comprehensive executive powers.
