The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said that the tripartite team on the strategy of UNAMID's exit from Sudan, which includes representatives of the Sudanese Government, the United Nations and the African Union, reached agreement on terms of reference at the close of talks held in Khartoum.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Dr. Youssuf Al-Kordofani said in statement to Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that the tripartite team reached agreement on the terms of reference of the joint teamwork in charge of the strategy during its meeting which will start early in March with the view to preparing the exit strategy of UNAMID from Darfur in stable and secure conditions.
Al-Kordofani said the talks were held in a cordial atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation for the implementation of an exit strategy for UNAMID mission.
A UNAMID Press Release said after three sessions of work, the tripartite team reached agreement on the terms of reference. It is expected that the joint working group established in the terms of reference will begin its task in early March with the view to preparing the exit strategy of UNAMID from Darfur in stable and secure conditions.
In the meantime, UNAMID continues to implement its Chapter VII mandate as it focuses on its three strategic priorities, including protection of civilians, mediation between Government and non-signatory armed movements and support to local conflict.
