UN Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Sudan Mashood Adebayo Baderin has urged the Sudanese government to enable a conducive environment for national dialogue by releasing all political detainees in the state.
"The detention of Maryam el-Mahdy and Ibrahim el-Sheikh hinders any comprehensive national dialogue in Sudan," Baderin said.
He also urged the Sudanese government to protect the freedom of political leaders and stop detention campaigns.
