An officer in the Yemeni security apparatus was killed today when unidentified gunmen opened fire at in the province of Marib in eastern Yemen. A security source in the province said that unidentified gunmen riding a car shot dead officer Imad al Daihani immediately after he left an Institute belonging to the security forces in the city centre The source said a security force pursued the militants who have fled with their car towards uninhabited areas, but failed to catch them, adding that preliminary information indicated that the militants are linked to elements of al Qaeda organization who assassinated a number of military and security officers.
