Suez - Yosry Mohamed
Shipping sources from the Suez Canal Authority said on Thursday that a US Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower passed through the waterway carrying two warplanes and a German destroyer.
The aircraft was travelling from the Gulf towards the Mediterranean.
The sources confirmed that the carrier passed the Suez Canal with a USS Hue City destroyer plane and a Hamburg-Class destroyer in a convoy coming from the Red Sea. The Suez Canal Authority asserted that they stopped the movement of the ferries between the two shores of the Canal.
It added that they prevented citizens from approaching the waterway. The sighting comes after the US Department of Defense announced in March that the US would depend only on the Eisenhower carrier to front the Iranian coasts.
