Lebanese security sources said on Tuesday night that Syrian authorities handed Seham Younis, wife of slain political activist Mohamed Derar Jammu, over to Lebanese security forces. Syrian-born Jammu was killed in his home in the southern Lebanese town of Sarafand last Wednesday. The Lebanese Armed Forces Command said on Thursday that preliminary investigations showed that there were no political motives behind his killing. Seham accompanied her husband’s casket from Sarafand to the Syrian city of Latakia last Friday whilst Lebanese ?military intelligence arrested her brother and nephew, suspected of being the perpetrators. Lebanon’s public prosecutor asked Syrians to send Younis, after two defendants accused her of being the mastermind behind the murder of her husband. Jammu was considered a staunch ally of the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad and often appeared on Hezbollah’s Almanar TV in defence of Assad.
