Two Russian citizens have been arrested in Iran, a Russian Foreign Ministry statement says. They were among other employees of Zarkuh, a joint Kazakh-Iranian gold mining company, that were detained by Iranian authorities on April 5. The Russian ambassador in the country asked the Iranian Foreign Ministry for the opportunity to meet with the detained Russian citizens, but has yet to receive a response, the statement says. The Russian and Kazakh embassies have also taken measures to find the exact location of the detained employees, as well as the reasons for their arrests.
