Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb expressed Al Azhar's readiness to offer all kinds of support for Bosnia and Herzegovina with a view to having Bosnian cadres capable of preaching moderated Islam, countering the perverted ideologies of radical groups.
Tayyeb made the remarks during his meeting with Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein Kavazovic, currently in Cairo.
"Bosnia is a dear country to Muslims' hearts, al Azhar is fully ready to offer support for Bosnians in educational and preaching domains," the imam of Sunni Islam's highest seat of learning said.
Al Azhar is ready to allocate a number of scholarships for Bosnian students, Tayyeb said, adding that al Azhar is ready to host Bosnian imams as a part of its imams training course that qualifies Muslim leaders to counter current challenges.
For his part, the Bosnian mufti expressed appreciation for Al Azhar's support offered through its medical convoy dispatched last March to the largest Bosnian hospital in the capital.
He also voiced appreciation for Al Azhar and its imam's efforts in spreading the moderate teachings of Islam.
