Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki met here Wednesday with the Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council Saeed Jalili, who is currently visiting Baghdad. The meeting dealt with bilateral ties and the situation in the region, especially the Syrian crisis. Al-Maliki confirmed, in a statement after the meeting, his country’s position in support of any effort to peacefully achieve the Syrian people’s objectives. Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met earlier today with Jalili and discussed with him the regional developments as well as Iran’s nuclear program.
