In its annual 2012 report, Amnesty international has criticised France over its policy in relation to immigrants, asylum seekers, expressing hope that President Francois Hollande would fulfill his obligations in this regard. \"We expect Francois Hollande to keeps his commitments,\" Genevieve Garrigos, President of Amnesty in France told a press conference here on Thursday. \"We are optimistic and we will be there to condemn any form of obstacle to implement these commitment,\" added Garrigos. The London-based organization has earlier sent to the French presidential candidates a list of recommendations, calling inter alia to stop the forced evictions of Romani settlements. The report also slammed the law that has increased from 32 to 45 days the maximum period of retention of irregular migrants awaiting deportation.
