Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil el Arabi received on Sunday French Mideast peace envoy Pierre Vimont, currently visiting here.

The meeting comes as part of the efforts exerted by France to prepare for an international peace conference as part of a French initiative to renew the Middle East peace process.

Arabi is also scheduled to meet later in the day with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh el Maliki for talks on the French initiative and the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
