The Armed Forces signed today the fourth batch of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with a number of companies and leading institutions in the country within the framework of the "Homat Al Watan," or 'Homeland Protectors' discount card."
The card is one of the service and social initiatives launched by the Armed Forces to upgrade the standard of services provided to the employees of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces, be they military personnel, civilians or retirees.
This came during the ceremony held at the Armed Forces Officers' Club in Abu Dhabi.
The MoUs were signed on the behalf of the Armed Forces by Major-General Staff Pilot Ishaq Saleh Mohammed Al Balushi, Head of the Supply Department of the General Command of the Armed Forces, while a number of representatives signed on behalf of their agencies.
Major General Al Balushi commended the continued support to the Armed Forces by President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, care of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme commander of the Armed Forces.
He reiterated, "Our wise leadership takes interest in Emiratis and their positive role in maintaining the security, achievements and sovereignty of the homeland," and cited the significant role of the Armed Forces who are the shields of the homeland.
Major General Al Balushi said that there are now 173 card holders, and they will benefit from services to be offered by airlines, telecommunications companies, car agencies, insurance companies, car rental offices, hotels, universities, schools, sports clubs and other service organisations.
He added that by issuing the card the Armed Forces aim to enhance co-operation between the military and commercial firms to provide better services to its personnel to meet the diverse consumer needs.
Major General Al Balushi said the card has privileges and discounts granted exclusively to the employees of the Ministry of Defence including military personnel, civilian employees, and retirees, and added that the card does not have any banking or credit status.
He explained that any promotional offers or additional services will be sent through text messages to the card holders throughout the year.
Major General Al Balushi thanked all companies and institutions that will provide services to the employees of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces. He also extended thanks to the media for covering the activities and initiatives of the armed forces.
