The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies on Sunday evening voted in favor of impeaching President Dilma Rousseff after the move gained a two-thirds majority, or 342 votes.

The outcome means that the Senate will now open a formal impeachment trial against Rousseff in the coming weeks.
