Sharm El Sheikh - Arab Today
Secretary General of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) Ibrahim Sani Abani praised on Thursday stances taken by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in support of the African countries.
Addressing the fifth meeting of the CEN-SAD defense ministers, now held in Egypt's resort city of Sharm El Sheikh, Abani said the gathering aims at discussing ways of rehabilitating the member states to develop their security and defense systems.
He noted that the CEN-SAD members states are facing a raft of issues, such as organized crime, drug trafficking and terrorist groups.
Abani called on the world countries to unify efforts to face the threat of terrorist groups.
"African presidents should outline a mechanism to defend African borders," he added, stressing that this is the main reason for holding this meeting.
Abani praised also efforts exerted by UN Chief Ban Ki-moon at the international and African levels.
