Cairo - Arab Today
The Ministry of International Cooperation is adopting several projects in Africa within the framework of the Africa 2063 Agenda, said a senior official with the ministry on Tuesday.
Fathi Abdel Azeem, the head of Arab sector in the ministry, added that the ministry is undertaking several projects including setting up the Victoria Lake-Alexandria maritime passage that will be completed in 2024 at a total cost of 10 billion dollars.
At a press conference on the occasion marking the African Statistics Day, he added that the African Development Bank is contributing to compiling feasibility studies of the project that will cost around 12 million dollars.
The passage is now under construction and it will serve all countries including the land-locked ones carrying goods to Europe and other parts of the world, he added.
The African continent possesses one third of the world's resources but lacks technical experience, he said.
The ministry is also adopting the project of setting up Alexandria-Cape Town land transportation line, he said, adding that it will be an international transport line.
