Head of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in Berlin Engelhard Mazank said the largest number of political asylum seekers in Germany this year are Turks following recent conditions in Turkey.

The number of Egyptians submitting immigration applications is low compared to other nationalities, Mazank told Egyptian reporters at the German-Egyptian University HQ in Berlin.

He said that most of the applications will be rejected for they do not follow the set conditions.

Germany will only accept applications for those who are affected by wars and disputes in their countries, Mazank said, adding 2% of seekers can prove they are harmed in their nations because of their opposing viewpoints.

The German capital Berlin had no Egyptian political asylum seekers over the past year, which saw the largest migration wave and asylum applications in Germany, according to Mazank.

Egypt and Germany cooperate to combat terrorism and violence, he said.

If the migration office receives any tip-off that any group plotting terror acts in Germany and overseas, it will seriously deal with the matter, he said.

He added if the office was tipped off about any attempts to destabilize Egypt, it will immediately inform the Egyptian authorities.
