Beirut - Arabstoday
An EU-funded project that is set to help at least 736 Palestinian refugees renovate their homes themselves was launched today in Beirut’s Mar Elias camp Sunday. The 6-million-euro ($7.9 million) project, which focuses on self-reliance, will transfer money directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries, who will carry out necessary home repairs on their own. They will be supervised by UNRWA engineers. Genoveva Ruiz Calavera, a European Commission official, said Sunday that the program was a “tangible example of the EU support to Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.”
