French President François Hollande telephoned on Tuesday Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel to express his country's solidarity with the Belgian authorities after a wave of terrorist attacks targeted the Belgian capital Brussels early in the day, leaving scores dead and wounded.

The two sides tackled the latest developments in Belgium following the terrorist attacks and called for more security and intelligence cooperation between the two countries.

At least 35 people were killed and 135 others injured in the terrorist attacks that targeted a Brussels international airport and a city metro station in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The bombings come four days after Salah Abdeslam, the main fugitive in the Paris attacks, was arrested in Brussels.
