Cairo - Arab Today
France wants to develop its initiative for holding an international peace conference in the Middle East in close coordination with Egypt, French ambassador in Cairo Andrea Baron said Sunday.
Speaking to MENA, Baron said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi would discuss with his French counterpart Francois Hollande the latest developments in the Palestinian territories during their talks in Cairo, scheduled to be held next week.
Baron said France has appointed Pierre Vimont as a special envoy for its peace conference initiative, and he made a tour in the Middle East, including Egypt, Europe, US, and Russia for proposing ideas and listening for the partners’ reactions.
Hollande will bring forward some proposals to Sisi during their talks in this regard, Baron said, adding the French president’s visit to Cairo came in a appropriate time, as it gave the two leaders an opportunity for holding discussions on French peace initiative.
