French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is to pay an official visit to Jordan next Wednesday as part of a tour that also includes Lebanon and Turkey to discuss the Syrian crisis. The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Fabius will be in the region from August 15-17 and will meet with political figures there at the highest level. The visit will address the growing refugee crisis resulting from the worsening conflict in Syria, whereby hundreds of thousands of people have been fleeing the fighting and are in need of humanitarian relief. Fabius will be asking Syria’s neigbors to show as much solidarity as possible and he will also be informing the leaders of Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon of France’s intention to offer support, the Foreign Ministry said.
