Clashes have been reported near the western Libyan town of Zuwara six months after a revolution in the country ended dictator Muammar Gaddafi's rule. Fresh fighting broke out on Wednesday and there were no reports of casualties. Heavy gunfire was exchanged and a column of black smoke rose over Regdalin and Jamil, just 10 kilometers (six miles) south of Zuwara, AFP reported. Since Monday, rebels from Zuwara have clashed with fighters from the nearby towns of Regdalin and Jamil. Officials in the capital city of Tripoli said they were sending a force to restore order in Zuwara. Tensions have festered in and around Zuwara since the collapse of the Gaddafi regime last October.
