Gallup poll: 56% of Austrian citizens expected suicide attacks in their country

A poll carried out by the Austrian Gallup public opinion research institution said that 56% of Austrians are worried about the possibility of future terrorist attacks in their country.

According to the poll that was published on Friday, 30% of the samples feel that they are in a safe position.

In the same context, nearly 43% of the participants in the study insisted on making their summer trips as they had planned.

The last statistical figures showed that nearly 44% of Austrian citizens had their summer vacations in Austria last year.

Meanwhile, security measures were stepped up at Austria's airports, main underground stations, public buildings and international organizations headquarters and shopping centers. 

Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner asked citizens to be cautious, stressing that so far there have been no direct threats to Austria.
