The German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Moldova on August 22. Merkel will have meetings with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Vlad Filat, as well as with the leaders of the Parliamentarian parties. She is also expected to give a public speech, as well. Merkel will come to Moldova together with a group of businessmen who will examine the opportunities to establish partnerships with their Moldovan fellows and later invest into this market. This will be the first visit of a German Chancellor to Moldova since it became independent in 1991.
