Indonesia military (TNI) departed the first batch of Garuda Contingent (Konga) to Lebanon, assigned to join the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission in that country, a statement released by Konga task force said here on Monday. Some 241 Indonesian peacekeeping troops joined in the first batch departure were transported to Rafiq Hariri airport in Lebanon on Sunday morning, using particular plane chartered by UN from Halim Perdanakusumah airport in the capital city. They consisted of mechanical, medical battalions and military police personnel among others. They will be assigned for one-year service period in Lebanon, the statement said. Indonesia will depart a total of 1,169 peacekeeping troops to join UNIFIL in Lebanon.
