Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and the UN-Arab League envoy for Syria Kofi Annan have met in Tokyo on the sidelines of the international donors conference on Afghanistan. The two sides discussed the latest developments regarding the ongoing situation in Syria, according to the Iranian (Press TV). The international conference in Tokyo brought together representatives from about 70 countries and international aid organizations, including the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank to raise billions of dollars in aid for the war-ravaged Afghanistan. The donors vowed to give Afghanistan USD 16 billion in development aid over the next four years. During the meeting, Annan underlined Iran's key role in the establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan. Earier, the Iranian foreign minister also held talks with his German and Japanese counterparts, Guido Westerwelle, and Koichiro Gemba, on bilateral, regional and international issues, including Afghanistan developments.
