Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy (IRA) Mohei el Din Afifi reviewed during his meeting Monday with a delegation from the Russian university ways of boosting cooperation between the academy and the Council on Islamic Education in Russia in order to confront extremist ideologies. 

In a statement, the secretary general said that this cooperation comes as part of effort exerted by Al Azhar to shed light on the upright teachings of Islam and confront extremist ideology.

Al Azhar attaches great importance to meeting the Muslims' needs in Russia, he added.
