Israel said that Syrian government forces have used chemical weapons against civilians since the start of a ceasefire aimed at preparing the way for an end to the five-year civil war.

Israeli Jerusalem Post quoted Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon as saying, "The Syrians used military grade chemical weapons and lately have been using chlorine against civilians". 

The statements come as part of Ya'alon's speech to a conference organized by the New Tech military and aviation group in Airport City, near Tel Aviv.
