A group of Israeli settlers' caravans have set up camp Thursday in the Palestinian town of al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, aiming to expand the nearby settlement of Itimar . Palestine's news agency Wafa quoted the coordinator of the popular committee against the Apartheid Wall in al-Khader, Ahmad Salah, as saying that farmers spotted a group of settlers putting up 10 mobile homes, under the authority of the Israeli army. Settlers have been targeting al-Khader town recently through land confiscation and infrastructure construction of intended illegal settlement outposts. In 1994, the same area where the caravans stand now, witnessed several confrontations between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers, protesting against the construction of the settlement.
