Jordan\'s police say the state security prosecutor has charged 12 activists arrested at a demonstration on Saturday with defaming the country\'s ruler, King Abdullah II. Police spokesperson Mohammed al-Khatib said they were also charged with incitement against the political system, illegal assembly and rioting. They were arrested during a protest near the prime minister\'s office. They were demanding the release of two dozen other activists charged with inciting riots in Jordan\'s south last month. Al-Khatib said police released 15 others also detained on Saturday.
