Pakistan’s port city Karachi was calm Wednesday, a day after it witnessed large-scale violence over the killing of a political activist. Educational institutes and markets opened Wednesday, local news agency reported. According to police, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member Mansoor Mukhtar and his brother were shot dead at their house in Karachi’s PIB colony Tuesday morning. Mansoor was shot four times. Authorities late Tuesday detained six suspects for interrogation. On Tuesday, at least 10 people were killed and over 50 vehicles torched as violence erupted in Karachi following the murder. Thousands of MQM supporters took to the streets in different parts of the city shouting slogans and firing in the air.
