King Abdullah II on Thursday reiterated Jordan’s stance on the Syrian crisis which calls for finding a quick political solution that preserves Syria’s unity and independence and puts an end to bloodshed and violence. At a meeting with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who is currently on a regional tour, the King warned against the ramifications of the Syrian crisis on the security and stability of the region. His Majesty highlighted the need for concerted international efforts to end the crisis and spare the Syrians more suffering. He said Jordan will continue to fulfill its duties towards the Syrian citizens who arrive in the Kingdom and provide them with needed services despite its economic hardships. King Abdullah voiced appreciation of France’s support to Jordan’s efforts in offering services to the refugees. At the meeting, which was attended by Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and French Ambassador to Jordan Corinne Breuze, the King and the French minister also discussed means of forging closer cooperation in various fields. Earlier this week, France sent a military field hospital to the Kingdom to support it in addressing humanitarian challenges resulting from the Syrian crisis.
