Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged the West not to sabotage the Geneva agreements on Syria. “We are convinced that what was done in Geneva should not be sabotaged,” Lavrov told journalists on Wednesday. “We will make Western partners to respond if they support these agreements. If they uphold them, why they refuse to implement them,” the Russian minister was reported by Itar-tass as saying. According to Lavrov, this is the only way to overcome the Syrian crisis and it should be based on the respect of the UN Charter principles, the country’s territorial integrity and the non-interference in internal affairs of foreign states. “It is necessary to prevent the opposition from continuing the armed struggle,” the minister noted.
